Through Discover Dance, our education outreach program, we offer live, fully-staged performances of classical ballets to elementary, middle and high school students throughout the Gulf Coast region. For each performance, we welcome guest artists from New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and other world-renown companies to dance in the principal roles. Student audiences not only enjoy an excellent cultural event, they also are privileged to watch some of the world’s finest dancers perform right in their own community.

We believe that exposure to the arts is a vital part of every child’s education. With drastic cuts in education funding, the arts often are the first to be eliminated from the curriculum. Discover Dance helps bridge that gap, bringing classical ballet to those who otherwise might not be able to experience it.

Mobile Ballet will present three performances of The Nutcracker (December 7-9, 2011, at 9:30 am) and one performance of Swan Lake (March 9, 2012, at 9:30 am) during our 2011-2012 Discover Dance season.

We are grateful to BBVA Compass, The J.L. Bedsole Foundation, Crampton Trust, Community Foundation of South Alabama, Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, and an anonymous donor for their generous support of Discover Dance.
