Winthrop Corey, Artistic Director of The
Mobile Ballet Company and summer faculty
member of the Joffrey Ballet School in New
York, holds the distinction of having been a
principal dancer with both The Royal
Winnipeg Ballet and The National Ballet of
Canada. He is especially well known for his
classical line and impeccable technique in
such roles as the Prince and Bluebird in
The
Sleeping Beauty
, Albrecht in Giselle, Franz in
Coppelia, Prince Sigfried in Swan Lake, the
Cavalier in
The Nutcracker and the Prince in
Cinderella.

He received international recognition dancing
opposite Rudolph Nureyev in Jose Limon’s
classic ballet The Moor’s Pavane. Mr. Corey
has staged and choreographed full-length
productions of
The Nutcracker, Giselle,
Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella,
Swan Lake
as well as an original ballet,
Dracula.

As a
costume designer, Mr. Corey is noted
for his designs for
Swan Lake, Cinderella,
The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and
Romeo & Juliet.
His original design and
construction of the classical tutu has gained
him national attention having been worn by
principal dancers from the Joffrey Ballet,
Hartford Ballet, Festival Ballet of Rhode
Island and the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater
in Atlanta. His original creations have been
worn by many companies, including Baton
Rouge Ballet Theater, Gainesville Ballet,
Clayton Festival Ballet, Metropolitan Ballet
Theater, Gwinette Dance Ensemble, and
Northwest Florida Ballet.
